Notice From The Police Scouters
Tuesday, 18 May 2010

Hi all,

Please see the notice below from Rodney Johns, Assistant Branch Commissioner – Police Liaison.

All Rovers are asked to read the notice and be aware of the information contained in it.

This information is being provided in the interests of the safety of Victorian Rovers and the greater community. Please remember that at all times, our conduct as Rovers is always on display. Regardless of if you believe someone knows that you are a Rover or not, you need to be mindful of any conduct both within scouting and the wider community. Sadly, some members have been flouting this and as a result Rovering has been receiving negative reports and this will affect Rovers overall.

If you are concerned about a conduct of a specific member in general, please speak with your RA or Region Executive to help get the issue resolved. Any misconduct within Rovering is treated seriously and appropriate disciplinary action can and will be undertaken against the member/s involved.

If you have any queries regarding the attached, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours in Rovering,
Mathew McKernan
Chairman
Branch Rover Council

Advice to participants of the
Mudbash Rover Scout Event
June Long Weekend 2010

Please be aware that concerns have been communicated to local Victoria Police officers regarding the driving of vehicles to and from the Mudbash event.
Issues identified include:
- Driving at a dangerous speed given the road conditions, wandering wildlife/livestock and adverse weather
-    Driving of vehicles with heavily loaded trailers at a fast rate on narrow winding roads
-    Driving to and from the event whilst tired or fatigued
If these behaviours continue there is a real chance of serious injury and death. I implore all of you to act and drive responsibility taking this advice into account.
Local Highway Patrol officers will be out in force in the area actively policing the roads to and from the event
Members of Police Scouters Victoria will also be active in the area with the aim of making the event safe for everyone

Rodney Johns

Superintendent & Assistant Branch Commissioner – Police Liaison
